• We were founded as Denver Optic Company in 1906 by Conrad Biel. Since that time, our emeritus ocularists have included James and Harry Rheem, Richard Caruso, and Walter and Lizanne Johnson. Ted Johnson continues his 45-year tradition of supporting Denver Optic patients.

OUR TEAM

JONATHAN BRETT, BCO, BADO

Jonathan is a board-certified ocularist who has been in the industry for over 10 years. He was trained by both Michael Webb, BCO, BADO, FASO, in Toronto as well his father, Jonathan Brett Sr.

Jonathan enjoys working closely with his patients, taking into account their own thoughts and opinions and combining those with his professional skills to create the prosthesis that makes the patients look and feel their best.

Jonathan is highly involved in the industry of ocularistry. Currently, he is a member of the board of directors for the American Society of Ocularists.

CHESLEY EDWARDS, BCO, BADO

Chesley Edwards grew up in Mississippi and Arkansas. He is a graduate of the University of Mississippi. In 2012, he earned his B.F.A. degree in Art with a concentration in Sculpture. Chesley’s keen artist’s eye and passion for helping others led him to an extensive apprenticeship in Nashville with Steve Sanders, a former Fellow of the American Society of Ocularists (ASO).

After Chesley successfully completed his training/education in 2018, the National Examining Board of Ocularists (NEBO) awarded Chesley the title Board Certified Ocularist (BCO) and the American Society of Ocularists (ASO) awarded him the title Board Approved Diplomate Ocularist (BADO). Chesley serves as a member of the Education Committee in the ASO.

Chesley and his wife, Elizabeth, have two young girls. On any given weekend, you’ll find the Edwards family at the zoo, a concert, playing tennis, or exploring the great outdoors.

 
Erika Hedtcke

ERIKA HEDTCKE, BCO, BADO

Erika Hedtcke grew up in Arkansas. While earning her undergraduate degree, she worked as an ophthalmic technician. This first ignited her passion for ocular healthcare. She graduated from Arkansas State University in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Medical Sciences.

Erika completed her education from the College of Ocularistry. She trained in Nashville under Sherry Richardson, a Board Approved Diplomate Ocularist. In 2024, the National Examining Board of Ocularists (NEBO) awarded Erika the title Board Certified Ocularist (BCO) and the American Society of Ocularists (ASO) awarded her the title Board Approved Diplomate Ocularist (BADO).

Erika is currently serving her first term on the Board of Directors for the American Society of Ocularistry. When not in the clinic, she and her husband, Matthew, enjoy traveling around the world any chance they get.

HEATHER CISKOWSKI

Heather has been with us for eight years, and patients have come to expect to be happily welcomed by her.

When calling, Heather is the first person you will encounter. She is very knowledgeable about ocular prosthetics and will happily answer your questions and assist you in booking the right appointments. We directly bill Kaiser Permanente and Medicare, and we are in-network with many other insurance providers through a gap exception.
